BELOW IS THE EMAIL I RECEIVED FROM BILLY DESCRIBING THE RECORDING OF "RECOVERY" Specs and details for recording "Recovery" with #12: The signal chain: Senheiser E609 mic on one speaker-3" off grill- dead center of cone -to-Yamaha O2R mixer-to-Alesis HD24 recorder. No effects, compression or EQ were used on the mixer, reverb and EQ were all from the amp. Axe used: 1986 '62 Strat RI-w/Lace Sensor golds plugged straight in into the amp-no pedals or outboard effects were used. About the tune: I wrote, arranged, recorded and played all of the instruments on the recording. All analog instruments, drums were mic'd, Barker bass was direct through a Countryman DI and no fancy keyboards or digital editing were used. Mixed onto Alesis Masterlink and converted to MP3 using Roxio on CPU. Pretty simple process, there was no challenge to find a sweet spot or a particular tone for the recording, I basically stuck the mic in my favorite spot and started recording and that was it! I still can't believe that 10" speakers can sound soooo good. I can't wait to do the same with the Mr. Bluesman......
