Here we will
be examining the signal flow in a 1971 Fender Silverface Princeton.
Identical to the earlier Blackface Princeton's, it uses the AA964
circuit.
Before we can go any further, I must post the standard
disclaimer.
DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! THE INTERNAL CHASSIS OF
THIS GUITAR AMPLIFIER CONTAINS POTENTIALLY
DANGEROUS, LETHAL ACTUALLY, VOLTAGES! Got it? DANGER Will
Robinson DANGER!
If you're not familiar with high voltage electronics,
specifically tube electronics, actually electron valve; please take this thing to a
qualified technician. Ok, on with the show...
This little amp came to me with a few issues and
we have put them all back right. These amps are a bit anemic, rated at
12 watts, and that's about all it will do. Some one had done a Marshall
type mod, placing the tone stack after the second gain stage to get a
little more crunch. Not a bad mod really, but now we're back to stock
specs.
