DeeringAmps Sonar 8.5PE Win7x32 & x64 setup.
Moving to Win 7 was not "painless", but I am up and working. For now I've
stayed with
Win7x32, when I complete my "Studio" i7 build I'm confident the FW is ready for
x64.
So here is my current system:
Win7x32 Pro
i3-530 Clarkdale on Gigabyte H55M-UD2H motherboard
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x
2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL
posts as 1333 and Windows reports 3.37GB usable
"on chip" video running dual monitors (1 vga port, 1 dvi port)
Motherboard 1394 port, using the "OHCI-compliant 1394 Host controller (legacy)"
option
Tascam FW-1884 & FE8; driver v1.7, Sonar 1.22 plugin, firmware v183.49
Win7x64 Pro
i3-530 Clarkdale on Gigabyte H55M-UD2H motherboard
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x
2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL
posts as 1333 and Windows reports 7.75GB usable
"on chip" video running dual monitors (1 vga port, 1 dvi port)
Motherboard 1394 port, using the "OHCI-compliant 1394 Host controller (legacy)"
option.
Tascam FW-1884 & FE8; driver v1.8, Sonar
v1.22x64 plugin, firmware v183.49
Sonar 8.5PE, complete control of Sonar in x32 and x64; the x64 plug rocks!
There is no reason to "fear" Sonar x64 as far as the FW-1884 is concerned.
Third party plugs, effects and soft synths, that's another can of worms...
No BSOD turning the FW on or off.
I can boot and shutdown with the FW on or off.
I had a moment "arming" tracks to record; HOLD "REC", press SEL for the channel of choice.
Good luck to all, hope this helps!
Old system:
XP Pro SP2 x32 (really x86)
AMD 4400+x2
2 GB RAM
ADS Pyro PCI TI chip set firewire
FW-1884 & FE8; driver v1.6, Sonar
1.22 plugin, firmware v183.49
All was working properly with
Sonar set at 5.8msec latency .
I manually set Sonar to 82 sample compensation.
